Haitians Helping Haitians
After the 2010 earthquake many young Haitian adults felt the call to service. Many have sought jobs with non-profit organizations in Haiti. Many others who work in the United States have asked how they can help beyond donating money. The future of Haiti will be determined by the amount of investment in the education of its youth. We believe that if young Haitian Americans share their talents as part of Friends of Matènwa's Schools and Education program they can be vital contributors to the progress of their people.
After an initial visit to Matènwa, you can decide if you would like to volunteer in our July summer camp program, spend a a gap year or a semester teaching. Creole speakers can continue to be a resource to Matènwa by sharing their knowledge with Matènwa students via the internet.
